SUPA Budget Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 2026-04-29

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SUPA Budget application and website (together, "the Service"), operated by SUPA Budget ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, creating an Account, or clicking to indicate your acceptance, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with any additional guidelines, rules, or policies referenced in or incorporated into these Terms, including our Privacy Policy. Please read these Terms carefully. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with any additional guidelines, rules, or policies referenced in or incorporated into these Terms. We may, from time to time, modify these Terms in accordance with Section 16. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modification constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Eligibility

By accessing or using the Service, you represent and warrant to us that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement with us; that you are at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence; that you will use the Service in compliance with these Terms and with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules; and that, if you are using the Service on behalf of a legal entity, you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms and you do so. If you do not meet any of these requirements, you must not access or use the Service.

3. Accounts

Certain features of the Service require you to register for an Account. When you create an Account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself, and to update that information promptly to keep it accurate, current, and complete. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Account credentials, including your password, and for all activities that occur under your Account, whether or not authorized by you. You must notify us promptly at support@supabudget.ca if you suspect any unauthorized access to or use of your Account or any other breach of security. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with these obligations. We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your Account at any time in accordance with Section 15, including in response to any violation of these Terms or any fraudulent, unlawful, or otherwise harmful activity.

4. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to use the Service, and not to assist, authorize, or permit any other person to use the Service, in any of the following ways. You will not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law, regulation, or rule, or in a manner that infringes or misappropriates any third-party right. You will not use the Service to harm, exploit, threaten, defame, or harass any person, or in a manner that is otherwise abusive or objectionable. You will not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, to any other user's Account, or to the systems, servers, or networks on which the Service operates, including by circumventing any authentication or security measure. You will not upload, transmit, or distribute any content that contains a virus, worm, malicious code, or other harmful component. You will not engage in data mining, scraping, harvesting, or any other automated or unauthorized collection of data from the Service. You will not use the Service to send unsolicited commercial communications or other forms of "spam." You will not interfere with or disrupt the integrity, availability, or performance of the Service, or attempt to do so. We may, in our sole discretion and without liability to you, investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating your Account and reporting activity to law enforcement or other authorities.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all content, features, functionality, software, designs, logos, trademarks, service marks, and other materials made available through it, is owned by SUPA Budget or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. Except as expressly permitted by these Terms, you may not copy, modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works of, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, sell, sublicense, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service, nor remove or alter any proprietary notices on the Service. All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved by us and our licensors.

6. User-Generated Content

To the extent the Service permits you to upload, submit, or otherwise make available content (including notes, attachments, custom categories, and similar materials) ("User Content"), you retain ownership of your User Content, and you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and otherwise use your User Content solely as necessary to operate, provide, and improve the Service. You represent and warrant that your User Content does not infringe or misappropriate any third-party intellectual property right, privacy right, or other right, and does not violate any applicable law. We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to remove or modify User Content that, in our reasonable judgment, violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.

7. Privacy Policy

Your use of the Service is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process your personal information, and which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy with respect to data practices, the Privacy Policy will prevail.

8. Third-Party Services and Content

The Service may contain links to, or otherwise integrate with, third-party websites, applications, services, or content (collectively, "Third-Party Services") that we do not own or control. We do not endorse, control, or assume responsibility for the availability, accuracy, legality, content, or practices of any Third-Party Service. Your access to and use of any Third-Party Service is at your sole risk and is governed by the terms and privacy policies of the third party providing that service. We are not a party to, and are not responsible for, any transaction or interaction between you and any Third-Party Service. You should review the applicable terms and privacy policies before using any Third-Party Service.

9. Financial Account Connections (Plaid)

The Service offers an optional feature that allows you to connect your bank accounts and other financial institutions in order to import account balance information and transaction history (the "Account Connections" feature). To provide the Account Connections feature, we integrate with Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"), a third-party financial data aggregator that operates Plaid Link, the secure interface through which you authenticate and link your financial accounts.

9.1 Authorization

By initiating an Account Connection, you expressly authorize SUPA Budget and Plaid, individually and on each other's behalf, to access your bank or financial institution on your behalf using the credentials you provide directly to Plaid; to retrieve information about each linked account, including the account name, account type, account number mask (typically the last four digits), currency, current and available balances, and transaction history (collectively, "Account Information"); and to transmit, store, and process that Account Information for the purpose of providing the Service to you, including importing, displaying, categorizing, and analyzing your transactions and balances. You represent and warrant that you are the authorized owner of, or are otherwise legally entitled to access and grant access to, each financial account that you connect to the Service.

9.2 Plaid's Role and Plaid's End User Privacy Policy

Plaid acts as an independent service provider in the connection flow and processes your data in its own right, not solely on our instructions. Plaid's collection, use, retention, and disclosure of your data is governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy, currently available at https://plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference for the limited purpose of governing your relationship with Plaid in connection with the Service. By initiating an Account Connection, you acknowledge that you have had a meaningful opportunity to review Plaid's End User Privacy Policy and that your continued use of the Account Connections feature constitutes your acceptance of it. Plaid's practices are independent from those described in our Privacy Policy and may be updated by Plaid from time to time without notice from us.

9.3 Credentials and Security

When you initiate an Account Connection, you enter your bank login credentials, multi-factor authentication codes, and any other authentication information directly into Plaid's interface. SUPA Budget never receives, stores, sees, or otherwise has access to those credentials. You are solely responsible for keeping your credentials confidential, for using strong and unique passwords, for promptly notifying us and your financial institution of any suspected unauthorized access, and for complying with the terms of service, account agreements, and any other applicable agreements that you have with your financial institution and with Plaid.

9.4 Data Accuracy and Service Limitations

Account Information displayed within the Service originates from your financial institution and is delivered to us through Plaid. SUPA Budget does not generate or independently verify Account Information and makes no representation or warranty as to its accuracy, completeness, currency, timeliness, or availability. Account balances may not reflect pending transactions, holds, foreign-exchange fluctuations, or other adjustments made by your financial institution. Transaction data may be delayed, missing, duplicated, miscategorized, or otherwise inaccurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for any decision you make in reliance on Account Information, including any financial loss, missed payment, overdraft, or other consequence arising from inaccuracies, delays, errors, omissions, or unavailability of Account Information.

9.5 Disconnection and Revocation

You may disconnect any linked financial account at any time and without cause from your profile settings. Disconnection will revoke our and Plaid's ongoing authorization to access that account on your behalf and will cease the import of new Account Information from that account. Disconnection does not delete Account Information already imported into the Service, which will be retained and deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Account Information retained by Plaid following disconnection remains subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

10. Fees and Payments

Certain features of the Service may be made available only on payment of subscription fees or other charges. By purchasing any paid features, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete billing information; to authorize SUPA Budget and our payment processor, Stripe, to charge your selected payment method for the applicable fees, including any applicable taxes, on a recurring basis if you have selected a subscription; and to acknowledge that fees are non-refundable except as expressly stated in these Terms or as required by applicable law. All payments processed through Stripe are subject to applicable financial regulations, including Canadian anti-money-laundering and fraud-prevention laws. Payments are securely processed by Stripe, and by using the Service to make a payment you also agree to comply with Stripe's Terms of Service. We may change our prices at any time, with reasonable advance notice for changes affecting active subscriptions; continued use of the affected paid features after the effective date of any price change constitutes your acceptance of the new price.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SUPA Budget, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, data, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your access to or use of the Service, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Without limiting the foregoing, we are not liable for any inaccuracy, delay, error, omission, or unavailability of Account Information or other data provided by Plaid or by your financial institution, or of any insight, recommendation, or analysis generated by the Service from such data.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (i) the amount you have paid to SUPA Budget in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (ii) one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12. AI Processing and Data Storage

SUPA Budget integrates Google Gemini AI to enhance financial insights and recommendations, including the parsing of financial transactions you copy and paste into the Service and the analysis of PDFs and images you upload. AI-generated data may be temporarily retained by Google for up to 90 days for research and analysis, in accordance with Google's applicable policies. Google's integration with the Service does not use your information to train its AI models, and any insights, summaries, or recommendations generated by the Service are informational only and do not constitute financial, tax, accounting, investment, or legal advice. By using AI-assisted features, you acknowledge that we do not control how Google stores or processes AI Processing Data, which is subject to Google's applicable privacy policies, and that you should not rely on AI-generated outputs as a substitute for professional advice or for verification of your financial information.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SUPA Budget and its affiliates and licensors disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including, without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and any warranties arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components, or that defects will be corrected, or that the Service will meet your requirements or expectations.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SUPA Budget, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, proceedings, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, settlements, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with your violation of these Terms; your misuse of the Service; your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right; or your User Content. We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you will cooperate with us in asserting any available defenses.

15. Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to all or any part of the Service, without notice and without liability to you, where we reasonably determine that you have violated these Terms or any applicable law, that your use of the Service poses a security or legal risk to us or to other users, or that suspension or termination is otherwise reasonably necessary to protect the integrity of the Service. Upon termination, your license to access and use the Service will cease immediately. The provisions of these Terms relating to intellectual property, data accuracy, limitation of liability, disclaimer of warranties, indemnification, governing law, dispute resolution, and any other provisions that by their nature should survive will survive termination.

Subscription Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your billing settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to the paid features of the Service until the end of the then-current billing period, after which the subscription will not renew. No refund will be issued for any unused portion of the billing period.

Account Deactivation. You may deactivate your Account at any time from the Account tab in your profile settings. Deactivation will immediately suspend your access to the Service and cancel any active subscription, with no refund for any unused portion of the billing period. Your data will be preserved for a period of 30 days from the date of deactivation, during which you may reactivate your Account by logging back in. After the 30-day period, your Account and all associated data will be permanently and irreversibly deleted.

Permanent Account Deletion. You may choose to immediately and permanently delete your Account and all associated data from the Account tab in your profile settings. Permanent deletion is immediate and irreversible, with no recovery period; will cancel any active subscription immediately; and will not entitle you to any refund for any unused portion of the billing period.

16. Changes to the Terms

We may update or modify these Terms at any time, with effect from the date of posting the updated Terms on this page or such later effective date as we may specify. Where the changes are material, we will provide additional notice through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service before the effective date.

17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Before bringing any formal proceeding, the parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute informally and in good faith for a period of at least thirty (30) days following written notice of the dispute. Any dispute that the parties are unable to resolve through informal negotiation will be finally resolved by binding arbitration seated in Calgary, Alberta, conducted in English under the rules of a recognized arbitration institution agreed by the parties or, failing agreement, designated in accordance with the Arbitration Act (Alberta). Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property rights or confidential information.

18. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies or documents expressly incorporated into them, constitute the entire agreement between you and SUPA Budget with respect to the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, proposals, and agreements with respect to the same subject matter. If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or arbitrator of competent jurisdiction to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving the parties' original intent. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of that provision or of any other provision, and any waiver must be in writing to be effective. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any of your rights or obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction. These Terms do not, and are not intended to, confer any rights or remedies on any person other than the parties.
